A hands-on winter pruning workshop focused on the care and maintenance of deciduous fruit trees will be held at Farm Vigano, offering participants practical training in orchard management and seasonal tree care.
The workshop is led by Justin Calverley, a horticulturist with more than 35 years of industry experience and over 15 years of workshop delivery across Melbourne. He runs the design, consultation, and education business Sensory Gardens, and is the author of The Urban Farmer and The Urban Food Forester. He also shares his expertise through regular radio appearances on 3RRR Breakfasters and ABC Radio Melbourne Evenings.
The workshop combines theory-based learning in a cottage setting with guided practical demonstrations in the orchard, creating an immersive outdoor education experience. Participants will learn how to improve the health, structure, and productivity of backyard fruit trees through proven pruning methods.
Designed for beginner to intermediate gardeners, backyard orchard owners, and those interested in sustainable food production, the session is structured in a small-group format to allow for individual guidance and hands-on support.
Limited spots are available and needs to be pre-booked online here.
