Avoca Police Reserve
Working Heritage acknowledges that the Avoca Police Reserve played a role in the colonial expansion of Victoria which resulted in the dispossession and alienation of Country from its traditional owners the Dja Dja Wurrung. It is Working Heritage’s intent to confront this reality and make genuine steps towards reconciliation.
6 Davy Street, Avoca
Designated in 1859 as an administrative and law enforcement precinct, the Avoca Police Reserve includes a Police Residence, Powder Magazine and Lock-up.
Working Heritage were appointed managers of the property in 2003 and since then have played an active role in protecting the site’s cultural significance through conservation of the site’s buildings and landscape.
The property is currently used as a private residence.
